I’m a neurodivergent computational artist, looking to divest the sensorial wonders of immersive media from the directives of profit.
I argue that Meta, Google, Microsoft, and Apple present this medium as a pay-to-play, whether you’re trading your money, privacy, or more recently the autonomy of your own body. And with their approach comes a one-size-fits-most that maintains the heteronormative patriarchal ableist hegemony.
Through the Develop Your Creative Practice grant, I am building a toolkit for artists, web developers, and musicians to build immersive experiences accessible to screen readers in the browser. This approach aims to utilize open web standards to enable myself and others to create website installations that allow for hybridity with in-person immersive installations like projections and speaker arrays.
Through this development opportunity I am building community and interest around immersive web audio.
